Kalle Hakola,

A jewelry designer focusing on creating unisex and mens jewelry. As a brand, Kalle Hakola designs and produces jewelry both unique, bespoke pieces and ready to wear collections.

The design philosophy is based on brutalist architecture, contrasts and organic shapes. As a designer he constantly plays with new ways to give form to jewelry. His jewelry is wearable self expression, that draws out the wearers personality and values.

Timeless shapes connect with experimental design, highlighting the symbolism of each piece of jewelry and use. The end result is finnish design that challenges design and embraces meaningful ways of adornment.

The basis for design

Is the aim to re-illustrate traditions and carving personal stories into symbols of the wearers persona. With contemplative, imaginative and approachable jewelry the brand invites the user to redefine their relationship with jewelry by trying out new ways of carrying jewelry as well as celebrating their identity with meanings shaped into solid forms.

The brand philosophy aims to challenge the symbolism of status and power. Each piece tell about other more important and personal values.

Contrasts are visible in a lot of the works of Kalle Hakola in both themes and design. The roots of the shapes are in brutalist architecture. While the designer was at first attracted to the seemingly masculine nature of brutalism, in the core of the raw visuality are actually humane and social values.

“I want my jewelry to have a deeper connection to the identity of the wearer. I want to create something for those who do not connect with what is currently available, or are looking for something different. If wouldn’t do that, I’d be neglecting my responsibility as a designer.”
